Lazy Lagoon*****

Lodge
Lazy Lagoon is built using local materials and using traditional Swahili architecture. All the buildings have tall steep roofs designed to catch the sea breezes , keeping you cool in the East African heat.
Rooms
Lazy Lagoon features 12 en suite beach bandas with twin or double beds, and an upstairs ‘loft’ with two twin beds, ideal for older children.
Each spacious banda has both an upstairs balcony and a porch with unimpeded sea views and access straight on to the beach.

There can’t be many more relaxing ways to start a day than to watch the early morning ngalawas go out fishing, whilst sipping a coffee on your own veranda, or walking down to the beach to look in rock pools in your pyjamas!
Dining / Bar
The main dining and living area is spacious and airy, with high ceilings and cool wooden floors; the perfect escape from the midday sun.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served here, with each table enjoying sea views.
Soak up the evening sun in the upstairs sunset lounge, which overlooks the swimming pool and the Indian Ocean beyond. The Swahili-style day-beds are perfect for the quintessentially safari pre-dinner G&T!
Accessibility
Getting across to Lazy Lagoon is not so easy for physically disabled guests, but the staff are willing and able to carry people across the sand to the boat. Once on the island, there is a rock paved path between rooms and ramped access to 2 rooms. There is wheel chair access into the master bedroom and from the bedroom to the bathroom. There are no specific adaptations inside the rooms, but the bathrooms and spacious and the shower is large enough to take a chair. If you let us know what your requirements may be we will certainly try to accommodate them.

Badeco Beach Hotel****

The Badeco Beach Hotel is one of the traditional old established guesthouses of this small town. It has always been a popular meeting point for local inhabitants, and so it is by no means just a place for foreign visitors. Tanzanians enjoy the high reputation of the hotel’s kitchen and restaurant. The cooks prepare local and international dishes, and the specialty is fresh seafood in many wonderful varieties.
The child friendly hotel has been under German management for many years. This means that English, Swahili and (sometimes) German are spoken here. The rooms are fitted with ventilators and mosquito nets and the majority are “en-suite”, with shower and toilet. Air-conditioning is also available for a small extra charge.

The hotel also has a camping site with separate toilet and washroom facilities, and a kitchen for self-caterers. The whole hotel complex has security patrols.

The Badeco Beach Hotels is right next door to the world recognized Bagamoyo College of Arts. Here hotel guests can learn traditional dance, drumming, painting and carving. Those interested in history will find it practically on the doorstep. The German Boma, the colonial administration building from the late 19th century is only 100 meters away. In the old Roman Catholic Mission, the very first one in the whole of East Africa, you can find evidence and documents from times of the slave trade, and the great explorer David Livingstone.
