Highlights of Nairobi

See highlights of Kenya’s cosmopolitan capital city today, stopping for a tour of the Karen Blixen Museum, the one-time home of the Danish writer who, as Isak Dinesen, wrote Out of Africa.
Also visit the Giraffe Centre, which provides nature education to Kenyan schoolchildren and where you see several of the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe up close.
After returning to your hotel late this afternoon, tonight enjoy a welcome dinner at your hotel Meals inclusive. (B, D)
Day 3
Amboseli National Park

Majestic of Kilimanjaro

Amboseli National Park stands in the shadow of snowcapped Mt. Kilimanjaro, the Maasai’s “white mountain” and the world’s tallest free-standing mountain at 19,336 feet. Known for its large elephant population, Amboseli boasts wide, dry plains also teeming with herds of wildebeest, zebra, impala, and giraffe. Depart for the park in the morning and spot many of these magnificent mammals on your first game drive this afternoon. (B,L,D)

Amboseli National Park

Maasai Kilimanjaro and Safari

Early this morning visit a nearby Maasai village to meet the people before they leave to tend their cattle, and to see everyday life up close. Also, visit a local school where you have an opportunity to interact with the children and their teachers.

Then return to your lodge for breakfast and lunch followed by a late afternoon game drive. In between enjoy time to relax at your comfortable lodge in the foothills of Kilimanjaro beneath a copse of feathered acacia trees. (B,L,D)

Lake Nakuru

Flamingos of Lake Nakuru

Early morning leave the lodge to Lake Nakuru National Park, across the equator, where lies the rift valley’s most famous lake. Known all over the world for itsflamingoes, it's alkaline and is recognized as being one of the natural wonders of the world. Lake Nakuru is now a rhino sanctuary, harboring a population of over 40 black and over 60 white rhinos, but the flamingos, of course, have always been the main attraction. At times there may be almost 2 million flamingos in residence, forming a stunningly beautiful deep pink band around the edge of the lake shore. (B,L,D)

Maasai Mara

Big Game safari and the Great Migration

Leave Lake Nakuru today to Masai Mara, Kenya’s premier game reserve rich with animal life and the traditional homeland of the native Maasai people. Known especially for the annual migration that sees some two million wildebeest, zebra, and Thomson’s gazelle, along with other wildlife. These creatures migrate here from the Serengeti, the Mara sits in the Great Rift Valley and comprises 583 square miles of vast plains, acacia forests, grass-covered hills, and slow-flowing rivers.

Serengeti

Maasai Mara to Serengeti

Depart this morning, bound for the Serengeti, considered Africa’s finest park and one of the world’s last great wildlife refuges. En route, visit the 31-mile Oldupai Gorge, where in 1959 anthropologist Mary Leakey discovered the 1.8-million-year-old skull of Australopithecus boisei, which revolutionized the study of human evolution. Reaching your lodge, embark on an afternoon game drive. (B,L,D)

Two days of exploring Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park

The Serengeti, which means “endless plains” in the Maasai language, spans approximately 12,000 square miles and is home to approximately 70 large mammal and 500 bird species. The vast treeless plains teem with animal life yearround, and is the best place to see lion and cheetah up close. Watch for them on today’s two game drives, relaxing at your lodge during mid-day along with discussions about the animal species, ecology, and conservation. (B,L,D)

Ngorongoro Crater

Cradle of Mankind - Crater of Ngorongoro

In the morning, transfer to Ngorongoro, the 8th natural wonder of the world. Stop for a picnic lunch, afternoon descent down to the crater floor for a day of wildlife viewing in one of the most incredible places on Earth. With walls 2,000 ft high and a crater floor that spreads for 102 sq. miles, the crater is a virtual Noah's Ark, inhabited by almost every species of wildlife indigenous to East Africa including the rare black rhino. In fact, the crater has the greatest concentration of wild life in the planet. It contains a river, several swamps, a soda lake that, from the top, looks like steam, full of flamingoes, a forest and open plains. Drive up the steep road out of the crater and transfer to your accommodation for overnight. (B,L,D)

Rift Valley Lake

Lake Manyara National Park

Drive to Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its green scenery, varied bird life, tree-climbing lions, hippos and baboons. Dinner and overnight will take place on top of the Great Rift Valley, overlooking Lake Manyara.

Day 14
Elephants of Tarangire river

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire is famous for its diverse landscape with nine different vegetation zones. The park is particularly known for the abundance of Ancient Baobab trees (the largest trees in the continent) which fill the landscape and dwarf the animals next to them. The river of the park is full of wildlife ranging from a large variety of birds to lions, leopards, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes and, of course, elephants. In fact, the park has the largest concentration of elephants in the whole country and provides unique chances to observe the interaction between elephant families. The lunch area is fascinating, boasting an observatory with amazing views to the river and wildlife (with good chances of seeing a hunt while having your picnic). In the afternoon we will still do a game drive before continuing to your accommodation. (B,L,D)

Walking safari at Tarangire, drive to Arusha

Wrapping up

Another day in the heart of Tarangire, this day includes walking safari in the park accompanied by an armed ranger. Comfortable walking shoes are advised with less coloured clothes. We recommend you wear dark green, beige or light brown coloured clothes.
At evening you will drive to Arusha for the evening.
