Classic Safari Northern Tanzania: Parks & The Great Migration

Experience the full emotion of a classic safari through the most iconic parks of Northern Tanzania and Kenya, where untamed wilderness and adventure come together to create an unforgettable spectacle.

This private safari invites you to explore the richness of Africa’s ecosystems and wildlife:
from Lake Manyara to the Serengeti, from the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater to Tarangire National Park.

Depending on the season, you will stay in the Ndutu region and Northern Serengeti, following the vast herds of the Great Migration.

A journey that blends comfort and authenticity—perfect for those who wish to discover the true essence of Africa in complete freedom, while enjoying seamless and impeccable organization.

During this safari, you will discover spectacular and diverse landscapes:

Each stage of your journey can be enhanced with optional experiences: walking or night safaris in Tarangire, cultural visits to local villages, encounters with Maasai and Hadzabe tribes, canoeing excursions, and exceptional experiences such as a hot air balloon flight over the Serengeti or Tarangire. You may also explore the Olduvai Gorge to discover the origins of humanity, or embark on treks to the Olmoti and Empakai craters.

Scents of Africa: Savannah, Zanzibar & Ancient Cultures

A complete itinerary blending adventure, discovery, and relaxation, between the spectacular landscapes of Tanzania and the tropical charm of Zanzibar.

Your journey begins at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, where you’ll experience daily life within local communities, surrounded by exceptional scenery: lush forests, waterfalls, and coffee plantations.

The itinerary can be enhanced with optional experiences such as a swim in the Chemka hot springs, a walking or cycling safari in Arusha National Park, a trek to the Ngurdoto Crater, canoeing excursions on the Momella Lakes, or even a hot air balloon flight over the Serengeti and Tarangire.

Then, depart for the great parks of Northern Tanzania:

After the intensity of your safari, the journey concludes on the island of Zanzibar, where white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, and the scent of spices await. You can unwind by the ocean or explore the island—from Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to spice plantations, as well as boat excursions and snorkeling over vibrant coral reefs.

As an option, a beach extension can be arranged to the more secluded islands of Pemba Island or Mafia Island.

An itinerary that brings together the very best of Tanzania: the raw power of the wild and the serenity of the Indian Ocean, in perfect balance between exploration and relaxation.

Off the Beaten Track

An original itinerary, designed for travelers who have already explored the Northern parks or are seeking wilder, more untouched regions.

From the wildlife-rich rivers of Nyerere Reserve to the vast plains of Mikumi, and the dramatic, rugged landscapes of Ruaha, each stage reveals an authentic and surprising side of Africa.

This safari takes you through some of the least visited—yet most wildlife-rich—parks:

An ideal journey for those seeking an immersive, exclusive experience, deeply connected to nature.

Kenya: Between Savannah, Sun & Ocean

A short yet intense itinerary, designed to showcase Africa’s most iconic landscapes—blending unforgettable safaris with relaxing moments by the sea.

From the plains of Amboseli, offering spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, to Tsavo West National Park, and ending on the white-sand beaches of Watamu, each stage promises a powerful and memorable experience.

Highlights of the journey:

A perfectly balanced itinerary between adventure and relaxation, combining the raw power of the African savannah with the gentle beauty of the Indian Ocean.

What our travelers say

Why travelers choose Kilidove Tours

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions when planning a safari: required documents, health and safety advice… everything you need for a smooth and enriching experience.

Our goal is simple: to help you feel safe, confident, and fully prepared.

Yes, absolutely! The safety of travelers with Kilidove Tours is our top priority. We never recommend a destination or experience that we have not personally visited or tested.

Wildlife poses no danger as long as you follow the guidelines provided by rangers and guides. We encourage you to strictly respect the rules of national parks, private reserves, and the advice of our professional guides—they are the experts responsible for your safety.

By your side, you will have experienced local guides who have been accompanying travelers with professionalism for many years. Supporting them is a team available 24/7, working exclusively with carefully selected local partners. Our vehicles are modern and serviced after every trip, allowing you to focus on what truly matters: unforgettable encounters with African wildlife.

This is one of the most important things to plan ahead.

PASSPORT: Check the expiration date—it must be valid for at least 6 months after your date of entry and have at least 2 blank pages.

VISA: The easiest option is to apply online before departure. Some countries, such as Tanzania, also offer visas on arrival at the airport.

Tanzania Visa: It is recommended to apply for an e-visa in advance to avoid any issues upon arrival.

Entry to Kenya: All travelers must obtain an electronic travel authorization (eTA) via the official portal at least 3 days before departure (processing time required). Applications can be submitted up to 3 months in advance—we recommend applying as soon as your flights and accommodation are confirmed.

INTERNATIONAL VACCINATION CERTIFICATE: A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required if you are arriving from a high-risk country or traveling between East African countries where the disease is present.

Other vaccinations will depend on your doctor’s recommendations.

The only potentially mandatory vaccine is yellow fever, but only if you are arriving from a country where the disease is present (such as Kenya, Uganda, Democratic Republic of the Congo, or Rwanda).
For example, if your safari includes travel between Tanzania and Kenya, a yellow fever vaccination certificate may be required to enter Kenya.

⚠️ Important: Travelers in transit through these countries are generally exempt, provided the layover does not exceed 12 hours.

Commonly recommended vaccinations:

  • Hepatitis A (recommended for Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda)

  • Typhoid (advised if visiting areas with limited hygiene conditions)

  • Rabies (recommended if spending time outdoors, especially in rural or remote areas with potential animal contact)

  • Malaria prevention (strongly advised for Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda)

We strongly recommend consulting a travel medicine specialist to determine the vaccinations best suited to your personal situation.

For more detailed and up-to-date information, refer to official health guidelines for Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda.

Yes. Tanzania is an ideal destination for families. Many lodges and camps welcome children and offer activities tailored to them.

Our tailor-made safaris are designed to match the pace and needs of families, ensuring a safe and unforgettable experience for all.

Yes, we strongly recommend taking out travel insurance covering possible unforeseen events: cancellations, flight delays, emergency evacuation, theft or loss, and medical expenses.

All travelers arriving in Zanzibar are also required to purchase mandatory local insurance through Zanzibar Insurance Corporation.

Cost: $44 per person.

This insurance is not included in your package and must be purchased separately. It is required upon entry, so it is essential to obtain it before departure.

A day on safari in Africa is a blend of adventure, spectacular landscapes, and deep immersion in nature. You’ll plan your day together with your guide, who will adapt to your pace and preferences. Here’s what you can expect, from dawn to sunset:

Early morning: start of the day
The safari usually begins before sunrise. Around 5:30–6:00 am, you’ll wake up for coffee or tea, followed by a light snack. These early hours are ideal for wildlife viewing, as many animals are more active in the cool temperatures. The golden light of sunrise transforms the savannah into a breathtaking scene.

Morning game drive
Typically lasting 3 to 4 hours, this is prime time for wildlife encounters. Your guide will expertly track animals—lions on the hunt, elephants gathering at water sources… Every moment is a photo opportunity. Your guide will also share insights into animal behavior and the ecosystem.

Mid-morning: bush breakfast
Depending on your itinerary, you may enjoy breakfast in the savannah, surrounded by nature—a special and peaceful break before continuing your adventure.

Midday: rest or activities
As temperatures rise, most animals retreat into the shade. This is the perfect time to return to your lodge or camp for a relaxed lunch, a swim, or some rest. Alternatively, you may enjoy a picnic in the bush and continue observing wildlife in shaded areas.

Afternoon: second game drive
In the late afternoon (usually around 4:00 pm), you head out again. The light is perfect for photography, and animals such as leopards and hyenas become active as the heat subsides.

Sunset
Depending on the location, your guide may take you to a scenic viewpoint for a sundowner (a drink at sunset). One of the most magical moments of the day, as the sky shifts from warm orange to deep purple hues.

Evening: dinner and campfire
Return to your lodge for dinner, often inspired by both local and international cuisine. Afterwards, gather around the fire under a star-filled sky. In camps, the sounds of the savannah create a truly unique atmosphere.

Night: optional night drive or rest
In some parks, such as Tarangire, night safaris are possible—offering the chance to spot bush babies, lions, leopards, or even the elusive aardvark. Otherwise, a restful night awaits before another day full of unforgettable moments.

In some places, tap water may be safe to drink; in others, the remote location of lodges and camps can affect water quality.

Always check with your lodge or camp to confirm whether the water is safe for drinking.

In any case, our vehicles are always equipped with safe drinking water, available both for direct consumption and for refilling the reusable bottles we provide.

The cost of a safari includes several elements: a 4×4 vehicle, driver/guide, park entry fees, accommodation, and optional activities. In Tanzania and Kenya, prices vary depending on the season, lodge category and location, trip duration, parks visited, and chosen experiences.

As all safaris with Kilidove Tours are tailor-made, here is an estimated daily budget per person:

Budget safari ($250–$380 / day)

  • Often in groups, with simple campsites or budget lodges
  • Standard vehicles, sometimes shared accommodation
  • Ideal for an authentic experience on a limited budget

Mid-range safari ($400–$500 / day)

  • Comfortable lodges or camps with private bathrooms
  • More refined meals, dedicated vehicle, experienced guides
  • A great balance between comfort and cost

Luxury safari ($600–$1,200+ / day)

  • High-end lodges or luxury camps with excellent service
  • Fine dining, premium services (sometimes private pools)
  • Exclusive, often all-inclusive experience

Exclusive safari ($1,200–$2,500+ / day)

  • Fully private safari with ultra-premium accommodation in remote locations
  • Highly popular for honeymoons and special occasions

Additional costs to consider:

  • Park entry fees: typically $50–$100 per person per day
  • Domestic flights: $200–$500 depending on routes (parks / Zanzibar)
  • Tips & personal expenses: should be included in your overall budget

Each safari is unique—your final budget will depend on your travel style, expectations, and the level of comfort you choose.
