Our Safari Vehicles
A safari vehicle is a specialized type of vehicle designed to provide a comfortable and safe way to explore wildlife reserves, national parks, and other natural areas, particularly in Africa. These vehicles are used for game drives, which are guided tours where visitors can observe animals in their natural habitats.
Key Features of Our Safari Vehicles:
- Open or Pop-Up Roof:
Most safari vehicles have either a pop-up roof or an open roof, which allows passengers to stand up and have a 360-degree view for unobstructed wildlife viewing and photography. - 4×4 Capability:
– They are typically 4-wheel drive (4×4) to handle rough terrains, such as dirt roads, mud, river crossings, and uneven landscapes often found in national parks and game reserves. - Raised Ground Clearance:
– Higher ground clearance enables the vehicle to navigate over rocks, potholes, and other obstacles, ensuring a smoother ride in rugged environments. - Specialized Seating:
– Tiered or elevated seating is common to give every passenger a clear view of the surroundings. These seats are often comfortable and padded for long drives. - Window Configuration:
Safari vehicles usually have large, wide windows or removable sides to enhance visibility for all passengers. - All-Terrain Tires:
– Equipped with all-terrain tires that provide extra grip and durability for off-road conditions. - Safety Features:
– Many safari vehicles include features like roll bars, seat belts, and reinforced frames for added safety in case of accidents or encounters with large wildlife. - Storage Space:
– They have extra storage compartments for safari gear, coolers, or picnic supplies. - Communication Equipment:
– All our vehicles have radio communication systems for guides to share wildlife sightings and ensure safety across the safari fleet. - Wheel Chair Accessible Safari Land Cruiser:
We are thrilled and excited to be the first safari company to offer an accessible safari car equipped to welcome onboard safari lovers who are using wheelchairs.
Types of Safari Vehicles:
- Toyota Land Cruiser:
– The most popular safari vehicle, known for its reliability, durability, and off-road capability. It often has a pop-up roof and can carry 4-7 passengers. - Land Rover Defender:
– Another classic safari vehicle with open and closed configuration options, ideal for navigating tough terrain. We discontinued this model from our fleets due to reliability reasons. - Safari Minibus (e.g., Toyota Hiace):
– Common in places like Kenya and Uganda. It usually has a pop-up roof and can accommodate 6-8 passengers. It is suitable for group tours and budget safaris. - Open-Sided Safari Vehicle:
– Common within the camps and lodges where the game drives do not involve a long driving distance outside the park. These are completely open on the sides and often have a canvas roof, providing an immersive experience but requiring extra caution around wildlife.
Common Uses:
- Game Drives: These are the primary use, where guides take guests into the wilderness to spot animals like lions, elephants, giraffes, and more.
- Bird Watching: This activity is perfect for bird enthusiasts, as the vehicles allow close proximity to various bird species.
- Photographic Safaris: Equipped with camera mounts or special seating arrangements for professional photographers.
Why Safari Vehicles Are Important:
- Wildlife Safety: These vehicles are designed to keep both passengers and animals safe. The elevated view and quiet engines minimize disturbance to wildlife.
- Comfort: Given the long hours spent in the vehicle during game drives, comfort is a priority with features like cushioned seats and ample legroom.
- Accessibility: Safari vehicles can access remote and off-the-beaten-path locations, enhancing the safari experience by reaching areas where wildlife is most active.
Safari Vehicles In Connection With Tanzania Destinations
On a safari drive to the Serengeti National Park or Tarangire National Park? Then Tanzania Safari Vehicles are necessary when you have to traverse inclines and navigate muddy and flooded channels.
