2-day Tarangire and Ngorongoro safari from Zanzibar

2-day Tarangire and Ngorongoro safari from Zanzibar

On this 2-day Tarangire and Ngorongoro safari from Zanzibar, you will visit two northern Tanzania wildlife areas and spend one night on the mainland. We will plan your flight connections around the park visits, with the road transfers and overnight stay shown in one itinerary.

You will begin with Tarangire, exploring its river landscape, woodland and baobab-dotted areas with your driver-guide. The next day, you will visit Ngorongoro Crater before the agreed onward journey back to Zanzibar. The change of habitat is the main reason to pair these visits in a short trip.

We will check the actual flights, lodge location and return connection before you book. This is a busy two-day route, so we will also explain how much time the journeys leave for wildlife viewing.

Your safari vehicle and driver-guide will be private to your party. Scheduled flights may be shared with other travelers.

Children aged 3 and older can join the vehicle-based safari. Please share their ages when you inquire; suitability for any additional activity will be checked separately.

Day 1

Fly to the mainland and explore Tarangire

Your trip will begin with the journey to Zanzibar airport. If we have arranged a hotel transfer, we will confirm where and when to meet before departure. Keep your travel documents accessible and bring what you need for one mainland night.

For a route using Arusha as the arrival gateway, you will meet the arranged driver-guide there and continue by road to Tarangire. We will show that transfer in your proposal, so you know that landing at the airport is not the start of the game drive.

Once you reach the park, you will explore a selected area with your guide. Tarangire’s river corridors, woodland and open habitats give you different places to look for wildlife. Elephants are an important part of the park’s appeal, and you may also encounter other grazing animals, birds or predators along the route.

Your guide will work with the conditions and wildlife movement that day. You might stop to watch animals feeding, follow their movement toward water or spend time observing the landscape around a sighting. There is no fixed sequence of animals to find.

We will plan the meal arrangement and park time around your arrival and overnight destination. After the visit, you will continue to the agreed lodge or camp. Its position will help shape the journey toward Ngorongoro the following morning.

For a fuller introduction to the first park, see our Tarangire National Park guide.

Accommodations

These options place your first overnight stay in Tarangire. We will plan the next morning’s journey to Ngorongoro around the selected lodge or camp. Your quotation confirms the property, room and meals, together with any change in price.

Day 2

Visit Ngorongoro Crater and begin the return

You will leave your overnight base for the agreed crater visit. The route described here includes exploring the crater floor; we will state the descent and associated arrangements in your proposal.

Inside the crater, you will travel through a mixture of grassland, wet areas and forest habitats. Your guide will look for wildlife along the permitted routes and help you understand what you are seeing. Take time to notice birds and grazing animals as well as the larger mammals you hope to find.

Ngorongoro offers a different setting from Tarangire, but it does not guarantee a complete Big Five checklist. Black rhino, predators and other wildlife may remain out of view during a short visit.

After the planned game drive and meal arrangements, you will travel toward your departure airport. We will check this road journey against the offered return flight before the safari is confirmed. If that connection leaves too little crater time, we can discuss another day or a revised route.

Once back in Zanzibar, you will continue to the drop-off location in your booking. Let us know if you want to return to a different hotel from the original pickup point.

Read our Ngorongoro Crater guide for more about the wildlife area itself.

Accommodation

No mainland overnight stay is required tonight because the proposed route returns to Zanzibar. Your Zanzibar hotel remains separate unless included in your quotation.
