Nyerere day trip from Zanzibar
On this Nyerere day trip from Zanzibar, you will travel to mainland Tanzania for a guided wildlife visit and return to the island the same day. We will build the proposed journey around your travel date and Zanzibar hotel, with the flight and ground arrangements shown in your quotation.
Your safari will focus on exploring Nyerere by vehicle with a driver-guide. You will travel through a landscape of woodland, floodplains and river habitats, looking for wildlife along the way. We will leave time for a meal break before the return journey.
You may also know this trip by the Selous name. We will make the actual park, arrival airstrip and activities clear in your proposal. The sequence below describes the visit we can discuss; exact flights and services will be confirmed before booking.
Your safari vehicle and driver-guide will be private to your party. Scheduled flights may be shared with other travelers.
Children aged 3 and older can join the vehicle-based safari. Please share their ages when you inquire; suitability for any additional activity will be checked separately.
Day 1
Leave the island, explore Nyerere and return
We will plan your airport departure
Your day will start with the journey to Zanzibar airport. Share your hotel location with us, and we will include the appropriate pickup or meeting instructions in your proposal. A hotel transfer is part of the service only when it is listed in your quotation.
Keep the documents requested for your flight ready. If you are leaving early, arrange breakfast with your hotel beforehand. You can also ask the property about storing larger bags while you are away.
Your travel plan will identify the mainland arrival airstrip. We will consider it alongside the safari area so you understand the connection between landing and beginning your game drive.
You will meet your guide and start exploring
Once you arrive, you will meet the arranged driver-guide and settle into the vehicle. After a briefing, you will head into the wildlife areas included in your day plan.
Nyerere National Park covers a much wider landscape than you can explore in one visit. We will keep the day focused rather than try to reach distant areas. Your guide will choose the drive around accessible tracks, conditions and animal movement.
You may encounter elephants, buffalo, giraffes, lions and other wildlife. Take time to watch what the animals are doing and ask your guide about the habitat around you. A quiet stop can be as interesting as moving to the next sighting.
If photography or birdlife is a particular interest, tell us when we plan the safari. Your guide can take your interests into account within the route and return schedule. Wildlife sightings remain unpredictable.
We will include a break in the day’s plan
You will pause for the meal arrangement listed in your quotation. We will clarify whether lunch is packed or served at a designated stop, together with the drinking-water arrangements.
After the break, you may continue game viewing if the flight schedule allows. Your guide will keep the departure airstrip and check-in time in mind while choosing the final part of the drive.
You will return to Zanzibar
At the agreed time, you will head back for the return flight. Once you reach Zanzibar, you will continue to the drop-off location in your booking. If we have arranged a hotel transfer, we will confirm that journey too.
Tell us if you are changing hotels or have another flight afterward. We will consider the whole connection before you agree to the safari. Your flight’s landing time is not the same as your hotel arrival time.
Accommodation
This is a one-day safari, so no overnight accommodation is required on the mainland. You will return to Zanzibar after the park visit; your Zanzibar hotel remains separate unless included in your quotation.
