3-day Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara safari from Zanzibar

3-day Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara safari from Zanzibar

On this 3-day Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara safari from Zanzibar, you will explore three northern Tanzania wildlife areas with two nights on the mainland. We will connect the island stay with the park visits, planning the flights and road journeys around the daily route.

You will begin in Tarangire's river and woodland landscape, continue to Ngorongoro Crater, then visit Lake Manyara's forest and lake-edge habitats. Your driver-guide will help you look for wildlife and understand what makes each area different.

We will confirm the actual flights, overnight stays and park sequence before booking. The itinerary below gives you the proposed journey. If you would rather slow the pace, we can discuss spending more time in fewer parks.

Your safari vehicle and driver-guide will be private to your party. Scheduled flights may be shared with other travelers.

Children aged 3 and older can join the vehicle-based safari. Please share their ages when you inquire; suitability for any additional activity will be checked separately.

Day 1

Travel to Tarangire and begin the safari

We will start with your journey to the agreed mainland gateway. If your proposal uses Arusha Airport, you will meet the arranged driver-guide there and continue by road to Tarangire. We will include the airport and ground-transfer details in the travel plan.

Once you reach the park, you will begin exploring a selected wildlife area. Your guide will choose the route around conditions, animal movement and the time available after the flight. You will not be trying to cover the whole park in one visit.

You may spend time watching elephants, looking for grazing animals or observing birds along the route. Tarangire’s river and woodland areas provide different places to look, while the baobab landscape gives the day its own character.

We will plan the meal break around the arrangements in your quotation. After the park visit, you will continue to your first overnight stay. The location will be considered with the following day’s crater journey, not chosen only for its accommodation category.

Our Tarangire National Park guide gives you more background on the first stop.

Accommodations

These options place your first overnight stay in Tarangire. We will plan the next morning’s journey to Ngorongoro around the selected lodge or camp. Your quotation confirms the property, room and meals, together with any change in price.

Day 2

Explore Ngorongoro Crater

You will leave the overnight base for the agreed visit to Ngorongoro Crater. The proposed experience includes a drive on the crater floor, rather than a stop at a rim viewpoint alone. We will make that distinction clear in your quotation.

With your guide, you will explore the permitted routes through grassland, wet areas and forest habitats. Look beyond a list of animals and notice how they use the landscape. Grazing herds, birds and predator behavior can all become part of the day’s experience.

Sightings vary, so we will not promise a black rhino or a complete Big Five checklist. Your guide will work with what is happening during the visit rather than try to deliver a fixed sequence of stops.

After the planned meal break and ascent, you will continue to your second night’s accommodation. Depending on your final route, you may return to the same property or stay somewhere else. We will show both nights in the proposal so you know what to pack and when you will move.

Read our Ngorongoro Crater guide for a fuller introduction to the area.

These Karatu-area options provide a base for the following day’s Lake Manyara visit. Your quotation confirms the selected lodge and any change in price.

Day 3

Visit Lake Manyara and return toward Zanzibar

Your final park visit will take you to Lake Manyara. Here, you will explore a different environment, with groundwater forest and habitats around the lake. The visit adds variety to the river landscapes and crater setting you have already experienced.

Your guide will focus on the accessible areas that fit your departure plan. You may notice monkeys and baboons in the forest, birds near wetland areas or other wildlife along the drive. Flamingos and tree-climbing lions are possible interests, not guaranteed sightings.

We will also allow for the journey to the return airport. The flight connection will determine when you need to leave the park, so the last day is not assumed to be an uninterrupted full day of game viewing.

After the agreed flight, you will continue to the Zanzibar drop-off point in your booking. Tell us if you are returning to a different hotel so we can include the right final transfer.

You can read our Lake Manyara National Park guide before deciding how important this third visit is to your trip.

Accommodation

No mainland overnight stay is required tonight because the proposed route returns to Zanzibar. Your Zanzibar hotel remains separate unless included in your quotation.
